Abstract
The poem Buku Harian Perkawinan offers an in-depth window into the reality of the experiences of women who are shackled by the institution of marriage. Through the lens of Betty Friedans feminism, this analysis explores how the poem represents the form of modern slavery experienced by women. Friedan, in her work The Feminine Mystique, reveals the anxiety of women who feel trapped in domestic roles that limit their potential and aspirations. This poem is in line with Friedans thoughts, describing how women often become objects and property in marriage, losing their autonomy and voice. This analysis will explore the symbolism, metaphor, and tone that the poet uses to describe feelings of constraint, helplessness, and the search for a lost identity. Apart from that, it will also be discussed how this poem criticizes social norms that oppress women and encourages readers to reflect on gender inequality in the context of marriage.
