Abstract

The digital transformation era has significantly altered various sectors, particularly in finance, where Financial Technology (Fintech) plays a crucial role in enhancing financial inclusion in Indonesia. This article discusses how fintech expands access to affordable financial services for all societal layers, reducing reliance on traditional banks that are often inaccessible for individuals and small businesses. The value of Indonesia's digital economy surged to USD 77 billion in 2022, projected to reach USD 130 billion by 2025, highlighting fintech's potential in driving economic growth. Innovations such as digital payments and peer-to-peer (P2P) lending have enabled many to access financial services without complex processes. Digital wallet platforms have lowered barriers to financial services, allowing more people to join the formal financial system. Despite the positive contributions of fintech, challenges such as immature regulations and data security issues persist. The Indonesian government has initiated various regulations to create a safe and innovative fintech ecosystem. Key laws like the Electronic Information and Transactions Law and the Financial Services Authority regulations govern fintech operations, ensuring consumer protection and system stability. This article emphasizes fintech's role in digital transformation and financial inclusion in Indonesia, addressing regulatory challenges and data security concerns while exploring how fintech can meet new societal needs with innovative products. Understanding fintech's impact is essential for developing effective strategies to enhance financial access for all Indonesians.
