Abstract


This community service activity aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the industrial sector, strengthen their professional competencies, and improve their readiness to enter the workforce through an educational visit to PT Semen Tonasa, Pangkajene and Islands Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The activity employed a participatory and experiential learning approach consisting of several stages, including preparation, the industrial visit, information delivery, interaction and discussion with industry representatives, as well as evaluation and documentation. Participants gained direct experience of the work environment, organizational culture, professionalism, discipline, communication, teamwork, and the characteristics of industrial activities. The results indicated that the industrial visit provided a contextual learning experience that helped participants connect academic knowledge with workplace practices. Direct interaction with industry representatives also enhanced students’ understanding of the technical competencies and soft skills required in a professional environment. Furthermore, the activity strengthened the relationship between higher education institutions and industry and created opportunities for sustainable collaboration in education, research, internships, and community service. This activity demonstrates that industrial visits can serve as an educational strategy to support the development of students’ competencies and work readiness.
